No Mountain High Enough: My Mt. Maculot Traverse Climb

When I create my to do list for 2010, I am skeptical on the idea of traveling alone or with a new group because I know I’m not the sociable type of person. I’m the kind of person who’s very shy and get easily intimidated by anyone. BUT I believe that you will never know your capacity as a person until you’ve faced your fear and try the things you were scared of.

I came across a group of people who loves to travel and mountain climb / trek under the [Merged] Mountain Climbing, Trekking, and Mountaineering of PEX forum and got easily interested with their plan. After D and I broke up, I really want to explore things and do the things I could never imagine I can do. So with the budget of 500 the Mt. Maculot climb I’m in.

June 5, 5:30 am Jollibee Alabang, I was able to meet the PEX group. It was great knowing them because from the start everyone get easily comfortable with each other and we’re like barkada kagad.

Here’s the itinerary of Mt. Maculot climb
05:30 – Assembly at Jollibee, Alabang
06:00 – ETD Alabang
07:30 – ETA Crossing(Tambo), ride another jeep bound to Cuenca
08:00 – ETA Cuenca Municipal Hall
09:00 – ETA jump off (Php 10.00 registration fee); start traverse
10:15 – ETA Grotto, take pictures
10:30 – set out for the peak via forested trail
13:00 – ETA Summit; Lunch
13:30 – descend; head to Rockies
15:30 – ETA Rockies; take pictures
16:00 – start descend to mountaineer’s stop
17:30 – mountaineers’ stop; tidy up; snacks
18:30 – ETD Cuenca
20:00 – ETA Lipa; dinner (optional)
22:00 – ETA Alabang/ Manila

I never thought I would be able to climb a mountain, It was just a dream for me. Ang hirap pala. lol , There was a time along the trail I’m asking myself why am I doing this? nakakapagod. but when we get to the Grotto sabe ko alam ko this is my dream to be able to climb up the mountain and see Gods gift.

It was not an easy trek promise unlike the Mt. Pinatubo trek – dito ilan beses ako nadulas (thanks kay moneybreaker sa pag alalay saken )

I’m not prepared but it was such a good experience plus new found friends and new hobby.
