Last weekend I finally set foot to the City of Smile Bacolod. I remember when I was in college I got this really big crush on this guy who came from Bacolod, it’s the way he speaks that catches your attention. Since then I got so curious about Bacolod and promise myself, one day I’ll be there and the day has finally arrived.
I got a promo fare from Airphil Express, PHP 911.00 round trip and including all taxes which is not bad. Kaya lang I got so busy with work and other trips that I forgot to make an itinerary to this trip. So before saturday I check the web for the must see places in Bacolod and medyo onti lang compared to other city. Some people say that what you can do in Bacolod is to have a foodtrip.
Saturday morning, we have a super early flight, plane departs at 4:20am we arrived at Bacolod 5:25am. From airport which is in Silay there’s a shuttle going to Bacolod (P150/pax). We ask the driver to drop us at Business Inn and good thing he did
We went to Business Inn hoping that there’s a room available for us that early but there’s none since the checkout time would be 12nn. We told the receptionist balik na lang kame but we already paid for our room. Standard room (P840 – off peak season).
We decided to go to Mambukal Resort which is an hour away from Bacolod City. So from Business Inn we just ride a jeep going to Libertad (P7.00) where the Mambukal bus terminal is. We saw a bus going to Mambukal Resort, from Libertad to Mambukal fare is (P35.00).
I read from forums that Mambukal Resort is not well maintained anymore and some people advice to skip this but IMHO the place is must see. I really like it here and here’s why
1. The place is clean, feels like I’m breathing fresh air, the trees around with bats on their stems really is amazing.
2. The fees like entrance, pool and other activities is reasonable and it will help to maintain the place.
3. The falls = WOW! Super amazed ako kahit halos maubos ang hininga ko paakyat
We have a tour guide going to the falls. There’s no fixed price for a guide so ikaw bahala how much ibibigay mo sa guide. There’s a part na matarik na paakyat like going to the 2nd up to the 7th falls. The first falls yata yung pinaka easy trek.
going up to the second. Whew!
Hingal na ko to the 3rd..
There’s no 4th kase nasira yung way nung bumagyo. Magkadugtong yung falls ng 5th and 6th
Going to the 7th falls.. nahh, di na kaya ng powers ko. So I went down na.
4. The food is delicioso !
and for lunch
The food price is reasonable and it’s yummy.
5. You can swim all you want in the swimming pool or dipping pool (hot spring) plus other activities and since we went there early morning the resort is not yet crowded and I think that big I don’t think it will get crowded
All in all the Mambukal Resort is still a place to visit, it’s not true that the place is not maintained anymore.
After lunch we went back to Bacolod City and drop by BongBong’s to buy pasalubong. Grabe ang dame kong piaya na binili. lol
We also tried Calea at Robinsons Mall which I’ve read from forums that it is a must try. I ordered a chocolate cheesecake which taste like it was frozen ten years already because super tigas na nya and i don’t like the taste of it kase nga parang luma na. The frozen mocha is just so so.. I felt na over rated ang Calea
We went back to Business Inn and checked in. The hotel room is nice and clean although the rest room is small but with that reasonable price pede na. May oops moment kame kase we are looking for the elevator because our room is on third floor, eh wala pala silang elevator
so stairs kame.
The hotel is just near the plaza so we just walk from there to the plaza. We saw the cathedral and say our prayers. Ang ganda ng church! I pictured myself walking down the aisle of that cathedral lol.
At the plaza there were lots of food mga inihaw and some people drink too. We also drop by the SM Bacolod which is beside the plaza.
and that ends Bacolod Day 1. later na ulit yung kwento
